Payam Jafari was born on August 30th, 1991 in Tehran, Iran. He is best known for his short film Unknown (2012). Payam studied motion picture and television directing at Academy of Art University in San Francisco finishing in 2017, and Sooreh Art University in Tehran graduating in 2013. He started writing and directing plays when he was nine years old. At the same time, he started to play two traditional Persian instruments, Setar and Tombak. Three years later he started painting under the direction of prominent Iranian painter and calligrapher professor Hossein Kashian. Payam had his first solo painting exhibition in Tehran in 2009. During his undergraduate studies, he made 5 short films. In 2012, out of 1000 shorts at Shamseh Film Festival, he won the best directing award for Unknown. Unknown was accepted in New Filmmakers Festival in New York in 2014. Hidden Crimson will be Payam's first feature film.
